I got a source code of an open source PDF reader that runs only on Windows. How can I use the source code so that I can run it on Linux too?

Well to run your program on the other computer (which do not have the compiler), you need to transfer the executable file( .exe) of your program to that computer , and after that you can run the program just by clicking upon that file. Explanation . You have written the program's source code (and must also have included some header files in it), after that when you compile it, the compiler comes in and compiles the source code, The header files included in your program just tell the compiler that there are some things that are not defined in your program, it's somewhere else, So your compile compiles the program to the object file leaving out things that have a prototype (which is in the header files). Now a program called Linker comes into play. It's work is to combine all the object files created by the compiler into one file.( The other files here are your included Header Files (Standard Library Package)),Thus it combines all of these files and then converts them into executable files. So now you can run your C program on any computer if and only if you have already compiled it and have an executable file of it. You can check these Quora thread for better understanding . Can we run a C++ program without any compiler? How do I run C program on any computer without any compiler? Hope this helps
